Raising voice for accessibility infrastructure
Ban Landmines Campaign Npeal (NCBL) raised the issue of accessible infrastructure for person with disabilities during a workshop on Agency Mapping on Post-Quake Reconstruction: A Social Rebuilding Perspective on 29 Nov 2018. NCBL stressed that changes to attitudes is extremely important for a wide-spread adoption of accessible buildings. Accessible infrastructure is necessary for all persons with disabilities, elderly persons and persons with sickness. With the lack of accessible facilities, survivors, person with disabilities are currently facing hardships solving even the simplest tasks and are also being deprived of various opportunities.
After the discussion that followed NCBL’s introduction to this topic, Hon Min Bahadur Shahi, member of National Planning Commission assured us that he will take initiation and include the issue in upcoming 15th National Plan.
